Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 12:00 pm:  Managing the Thesis and Dissertation Writing Process

Students will learn about resources at ASU that can be utilized to support their thesis or dissertation processes. Students will also learn strategies for planning time to research and write, using mentor texts, keeping track of research, communicating with thesis or dissertation committee members, and staying motivated and inspired.

ASU Library will present on citation managers that save and organize references more efficiently, especially for longer projects. The ASU Library supports three citation managers: Zotero, Mendeley, and EndNote. This presentation with focus more closely on Zotero use.

You often begin with a claim and then set out to write in support of or in opposition to the existing research and scholarship.  This workshop will descrribe different ways of making a sound argument, how to use summary and synthesis to present your argument, and how to review your argument.

Intro to SPSSTutors present an introduction to the statistical software SPSS. Students will learn background information about the software, data acquisition, and data management. The tutors also demonstrate data management techniques, exploratory data analysis and visualization, and modeling and significance testing in SPSS.

Statistical Concepts Review, Part 1Part 1 of the Statistical Concepts Review discusses introductory statistics concepts such as mean, hypothesis testing (z-test and t-test), and confidence intervals (z-test and t-test).

Statistical Concepts Review, Part 2Part 2 of the Statistical Concepts Review provides information about concepts such as types of data, types of data distribution, central limit theorem, and the law of large numbers.

Intro to RTutors present an introduction to R, software for statistical computing. The tutors demonstrate how to input data into R, data cleaning methods, rudimentary analyses (e.g., t-test and linear regression), and some data visualization.
