Summer Graduate Writing Camps
See https://bit.ly/SP22SummerCampRecording to view the recording of our online information session to learn more about the two June 2022 Summer Graduate Writing Camps.
University Academic Success Programs (UASP) is committed to supporting graduate students during their time at ASU. In addition to providing graduate writing and statistics tutoring, UASP offers unique summer camp experiences in June 2022 for ASU enrolled graduate students. For Summer 2022, the two summer camps will be offered online using Canvas and Zoom.
Facilitated by UASP’s Writing Center staff, these camps guide students through the process of writing at the graduate level. Combining both instruction and support, the camps provide skills and strategies that prepare graduate students to navigate the demands of graduate-level writing.
Graduate Professional and Student Association (GPSA) has made some funding available to help students offset the cost of the camp. If you would like to be considered for some financial support for one or both camps, please complete the funding request application form below no later than Friday, May 27, 2022 by 3:00 p.m. Arizona time.
The Success in Graduate Writing Camp provides opportunities for ASU enrolled graduate students to learn more about the academic writing and research demands of graduate school.
The Dissertation Writing Camp provides opportunities to support ASU doctoral candidates and ASU dissertation prospectus writers in achieving their writing goals.
Success in Graduate Writing Camp
The Success in Graduate Writing Camp is a week-long curriculum designed to assist graduate-level ASU students in developing and enhancing academic writing and research skills. Graduate students enrolled in any ASU graduate certificate, master’s degree, or doctoral degree program are eligible to register. The camp will be held online June 6-10, 2022 during the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. each day in Arizona time.
How it works
The camp can be attended either live (in real time), asynchronously, or a hybrid of the two. Live attendees will see the sessions presented by the UASP Writing Center staff and will have their questions answered in the live Q&A at the end of each session. The recordings of these sessions (excluding the live Q&A) will be uploaded to the camp’s Canvas page approximately 24 hours after the session ends. Attendees will have access to the Canvas page for one academic year. This way attendees can revisit the recordings, handouts, and other materials throughout the year as needed.
The camp offers an immersive online experience that provides a combination of real-time interactions and recorded modules using both Zoom and Canvas. Graduate students who attend the camp will have the opportunity to:
- join live or view recordings of Zoom webinars
- participate in live question-and-answer sessions
- access additional resources on Canvas
- interact with peers inside and outside of their disciplines
- attend a live faculty panel
- chat with Writing Center Coordinators

Dissertation Writing Camp
The Dissertation Writing Camp is a week-long camp that offers ASU doctoral students dedicated time and space to write their prospectuses, dissertations, or applied projects. Doctoral students who have reached candidacy or who are currently writing their dissertation prospectuses are eligible to register. The camp will be held online June 13-17, 2022.
How it works
The camp allows for real-time participation for those who are seeking real-time goal accountability and also allows for flexible participation, as all activities that are offered live have an asynchronous component. As a result, all live activities will take place between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. each day in Arizona time. You can tailor your experience depending on what activities are of interest to you and how much interaction with peers you are seeking.
